Choosing Crystals...

Choosing crystals is a very personal, pleasurable activity. We find it best to just relax and go with the flow, there are no absolute right and wrongs here. Have in your mind the task you wish the crystal to help you with, or perhaps the person you have in mind to gift this crystal to, or simply \'what do I need today?\'  Just take a breath, relax, open your mind to the question and go to the crystal that \'feels right\' for you. We are often pleased and surprised when we then look up the properties of the crystal selected by the accuracy of the choice we have made. It\'s fun to see what energies you are in need of by checking out the properties your chosen crystal provides.

Looking after your Crystals...

Without any care your crystals will become dull; if they fall, or are handled roughly, they will break in some cases. Your crystals will be providing various energies for you, sharing your journey. Your side of this partnership is to cleanse and clear any negativity from the crystals from time to time. There are many ways to keep your crystals at their optimum; here we simply offer our preferences.

Intention is always important, but particularly here.  We have the intention of cleansing and clearing away any negative energies the crystals may have picked up as we leave them to cleanse in a clear running spring (or under our well water tap!).  We leave them to charge up their energies the day before, and the night of, a full moon as we particularly like moon energy. Sometimes its more fitting to use the energy of the sun, so leave them out for the day in the light. (Not to worry if its overcast, just out in daylight is fine). Now, when they are clear and energized, we like to hold them in our hands (for the healers out there, have your healing hands at the ready!) and with clear intention, ask for that which you require.  This provides a beautiful connection between you and the crystal, so just enjoy!

The above guidance is just that - a guide.  Please bear in mind that crystals vary immensely.  Some disintegrate slowly in water like Selenite, some are quite soft and may get damaged when left with crystals of a harder variety, such as the quartz family.  There are those that fade in the sun like Amethyst and Celestite so some consideration is required if you are to take care of them well.

Cleansing

We always cleanse ours when we bring them home as they may hold emanations from the previous owner.

As we are healers, should you wish, you can request that we clear them and charge them with a specific need in mind before we send them to you - just e-mail us the details with your order.

Sometimes they will start to look a bit dull, so do it then; sometimes after use in healings they will need some attention; and whenever it feels right to you.  Relax and follow your heart.

We suggest you cleanse crystals:

• when you first acquire them
• after any healing or release work
• regularly
• when you feel they need it

You may also just sense intuitively that your crystals need cleansing, perhaps by their look or feel, so do it then.

A note on Dedicating Crystals:

Dedicating a crystal is simply invoking a blessing on the crystal asking that it always work for the Highest Good, filling the crystal with unconditional love and compassion.

If it feels right for you, you can create a simple ritual calling on whichever Greater Power you connect with, asking for help and to bless the crystal and your work together.

How to Use your crystals...

Using crystals is above all a matter of listening to (and trusting!) your intuition.  If you heed what your Inner Wisdom tells you, you won\'t go far wrong.  Use the crystals you are drawn to use, and use them in the way you feel you should.

There is no \'wrong\' way of doing things and if you are uncomfortable with how you have used the crystals, go ahead and change things.  Nothing you do with crystals is rigidly set.  You can change anything you want at any time you want.

In the environment:

Crystals in your environment will always have a positive influence...

Suggestions:

• use Citrine in the office or study to aid concentration
• Amethyst on the bedside table or under your pillow will aid restful sleep
• a Quartz cluster placed by electrical equipment such as televisions   and computers will absorb unwanted energies (cleanse often!)
 
• a piece of Aventurine taped to a cell phone will protect against radiation
• a large lump of Rose Quartz in any room (and especially the bedroom) will encourage loving, harmonious relationships.

Meditation:

Crystals can aid deep meditation and can also be used to meditate on for specific problems.

For example:

• Rose Quartz for love/relationship issues
• Clear Quartz has been used since time began to gain insight and clarity
• Smoky Quartz will help you see past anything clouding the real issue.

Once again, use your intuition.  Let your Inner wisdom guide you to the crystal you need to meditate on.

Carrying/Wearing:

• Wear the relevant stone either in jewellery or in a spiral cage worn as a pendant.
• The crystal will be more effective when worn next to the skin.
• If you can\'t wear it, carry it in your pocket (on its own or in a pouch so it doesn\'t get damaged by coins, keys and the like).  Keep touching it and playing with it.
• Women can wear tiny tumble stones tucked into their bra.
• Or use a bit of sticking plaster to hold it in place on the relevant part of the body.

How to get to Know your crystals...

The connection between humans and the mineral kingdom has been present for thousands of years. Crystals emit radiation, mostly in a constant way, and we are drawn to the differing programmes of light, radiation and vibration that will aid our recovery or meet the needs of the day. Its like tuning into our preferred radio station. Perhaps we have a need for more cobalt, copper, iron, zinc or whatever, and we are guided to choosing the crystals that have some of this formation of light within them.

Colour Considerations...

Colour has also been proven to have beneficial properties depending again on our needs of the day.

Black

Absorbs all light and works to absorb excess energies - particularly helpful for pain (which is sometimes caused by blockages of energy).  Crystals such as Black Onyx, Hematite, Smokey Obsidian and Smokey Quartz will work towards absorbing the pain, allowing energies to flow and relaxation to replace any tension; some people will choose black to relax the whole system.  It is an inward colour, often black will be worn by nuns, monks, priests in some cultures focusing attention on the inner world.

Red

Stimulates and speeds us up.  Red crystals will rev us up a notch or two, increasing circulation and stimulating the blood, warming the heart and wherever the blood travels. Red minerals will strengthen our will power and improve our perseverance.   Red is a physical energy. A good choice when we have things that need to get done. A study of athletes at the university of Texas showed that viewing red light increased strength 13.5 per cent and prompted 5.8 per cent more electrical activity on the muscles. This suggests that the colour red can activate activity and physical strength. Some red crystals are Carnelian, Sardonyx, Sunstone and Red Jasper.

Orange

Our entire system is strengthened with orange as it stimulates and fortifies the blood, improving the function of our sexual organs. Orange stimulates optimism, expansiveness, emotional balance, confidence and enthusiasm. Also helps with tolerance. Some choices of this colour would be Orange Calcite, Pink Moss Agate and Agatised Coral.

Yellow

Will help us find a more positive outlook through intellect as well as communication.  It is the last of the warm, colour rays.  Yellow crystals will aid any activity in the stomach, pancreas and spleen areas.  Also helps with our immune system.  This colour is good for stimulating flexibility and adaptability to change.  Some choices of this colour would be Honey Calcite,  Sunshine Calcite and Citrine.

Green

Green is the balance between the warm extroverted spectrum of red, orange and yellow and cool introverted colours of blue, indigo and violet.  Green stimulates feelings of balance and harmony, peace, hope growth and healing. Some choices of this colour would be Green Moss Agate, Aventurine, Bloodstone, Serpentine (New Jade) and Emerald.

Blue

Cooling and calming, helping to activate kidneys and bladder, assisting bodily fluids. It stimulates you to seek inner truth, helps you to obtain inner peace and to live out your ideals. Blues stimulating abilities help to inspire, encourage your creativity and spiritual understanding. It has also been used for pain reduction. Some choices of this colour would be Blue Lace Agate, Amazonite, Blue Obsidian, Chrysocolla and Lapis Lazuli.

Violet/purple

Stimulates our spiritual perspective and intuition.  Calming soothing and comforting.  Encouraging brain activity/sensory/motor nervous system.  Encourages understanding.  Some choices of this colour would be Amethyst, Fluorite, Charoite and Iolite.

Clear/White/Silver

White vibrations are the fastest of the colour spectrum.  Can be purifying, bringing the light of all possibilities.  Supporting and enhancing what is already clear.  Holding within this energy is the power of transformation.  We are given strength through clarity and purity and creative power through "all things are possible".  Most important of all bringing wholeness.  Some choices of this colour would be Quartz, Selanite, Howlite, Snow Quartz, Silver Aventurine and Danburite.

Abalone

• Abalone (from Spanish Abulón) are a species of shellfish (molluscs) and the shell is characterized by a richly coloured inside surface made of nacre.
• Natural abalone shells contain beautiful iridescent colours in shades of blue-green, silver and pink.
• These shells are composed primarily of calcium carbonate, which was deposited in thin overlapping layers. Reflected light from these layers causes the colourful iridescence, which is often referred to as mother-of-pearl.
